What is Lightning?

Lightning is an electrostatic discharge that builds up between positive and negative charges that exist in the atmosphere and is produced in all thunderstorms. Some of the bolts stay confined to the clouds, while others make contact with ground. Areas with the highest concentration of lightning strikes across the globe are: 1) Democratic Republic of Congo, 2) Venezuela, 3) Singapore, and 4) Florida in the United States
