Thornthwaite’s Climate Zones

In the early 1930s, American climatologist Charles Thornthwaite revised Koppen’s scheme adding an emphasis on precipitation and evaporation, known as the P/E index. P/E index is used to define humidity zones:

Revised again in the 1950s, this system now also includes evapotranspiration, evaporation from soil and the transpiration of plants.
