What is Meteorology?

Meteorology is the science of the atmosphere. It focuses on understanding the physical, dynamic, and chemical states and interactions between the atmosphere and the Earth’s surface; our weather and climate.

The word is derived from the Greek word meteoros, meaning ‘in the air,’ and logia, to study and explain.
