Thermohaline Circulations

Deepwater circulation in the ocean is often called “thermohaline” circulation (Thermo: temperature + Haline:salinity). Thermohaline circulations are ocean circulations produced by differences in temperature and salinity; which change the density of water. In this animation, salty water is sinking because it gets colder.
