Increased drought decreases water supply, which not only affects the availability of drinking water for the livestock, but also impacts their food supply by creating poor pasture conditions. In cases of when the pasture grazing is inadequate, supplemental feed is purchased and given to the livestock. While increased amounts of CO2 can increase the yields of pasture grass, the quality decreases, meaning that the livestock need to eat more to get the same amount of nutrients.
