Fire Behavior Triangle

Of the three sides of the fire behavior triangle (fuel, weather, and topography), weather is the most variable and the least predictable. In order for fire managers and firefighters to be prepared to control and fight fires, it is critical to know the current and forecasted weather conditions. By understanding the weather conditions, fire managers are able to determine how they will affect the spread of fire.
