Words to Know

• Byproduct - a secondary, unintended, product made from the manufacturing or creating of something else.
• Concentration - the amount of a substance in a defined space.
• Parts Per - used in science to describe small values of diluted solutions, dissolved materials, or pollutants. (example: part per million (ppm) = 0.0001%)
• Pollutant - a substance that pollutes something, especially water or the atmosphere.
• Substance - a particular kind of matter with uniform properties.
