A closer look: Evaporation and Humidity

  • Watch this short video on evaporation and humidity.
  • Think about what makes water evaporate.
  • Would you expect for more evaporation to happen with cooler air temperatures or warmer ones?
  • In which months would you expect the highest humidity?

When water evaporates, it turns into water vapor in the air. Relative humidity helps us measure how much water has evaporated. The relative humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air compared to the amount of water vapor the air could hold at that temperature. Relative humidity is measured as a percent.
