Topography

Topography is the arrangement of landforms, like hills and valleys, around the lakes. Elevation, or how high the land is, on the leeward side of the lake can change the resulting amount of lake effect snow. Higher landforms can force additional moisture out of the clouds leading to 8-12 feet more of snow!
