Soil Temperature

The upper layers of the soil will fluctuate with atmospheric changes. At a depth of 2 ft., the daily range rarely exceeds 1°F, however seasonal variations in soil temperature can penetrate to much greater depths. Monitoring both daytime and nighttime soil temperatures are important to ensure plant’s health.
