Solar radiation is the amount of light the Earth receives from the sun at any given time. The amount of solar radiation changes over the year due to the orbit around the sun and due to proximity to the equator, which has a direct impact on the growing season for plants.
Honey bees use the light from the sun as a navigation tool. The eyes of a honey bee contain receptors that are sensitive to blue, green, ultraviolet light, and UV polarized light - all part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
