Weather and Infectious Diseases

Infectious diseases are affected by many factors:

  • Ecological
  • Biological
  • Societal Changes

These factors also include the climate and weather at a location. Disease agents and their vectors each have particular environments that are optimal for growth, survival, transport, and dissemination. The climate of a place can play a significant role on the endemic and prevalence of infectious diseases. Variations in weather conditions can influence how the diseases spread and if there is the potential for an epidemic.
