Oil and Water – Let’s Try It!
Question:
Will oil dissolve in water?
What happened to the oil when it spilled into the Gulf. Let’s do an experiment to find out.

Materials:
You will need:
- A clear bottle with a top
- Vegetable or olive oil
- Water
Procedure:
Pour some water and some oil into the bottle and put the top on. Shake the bottle as hard as you can for 1 minute to try to get the oil to dissolve. Shaking or stirring can speed up the dissolving process. Now look at the bottle.
