Backspin and Bernoulli’s Principle

  • Backspin generates lift by disturbing the airflow around the ball.
  • Backspin is created by the angled edge of the clubface and helps create more lift by speeding up the air going over the top of the ball and slowing down the air flowing underneath the ball. This is known as Bernoulli’s principle.
