In soccer, the only equipment a player can change is the choice of cleats. For the best performance, players will make the decision on which cleats to wear based on weather conditions.
- Dry weather, firm surface - leather material upper, bladed firm-ground studs.
- Wet conditions - synthetic/waterproof material upper, 6-stud soft-ground stud configuration.
- Artificial turf - any upper, with molded or rounded studs
