New Orleans Elevation
The city of New Orleans, Louisiana sits in-between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain. Most cities have a higher elevation than the water nearby. But most of New Orleans is lower than the water that around it. Water does not run into the city because there are natural and man-made levees to hold the water back.
