The National Hurricane Center (NHC)
The National Hurricane Center is tasked with monitoring the tropical Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, and Eastern Pacific for tropical storm and hurricane formation.
The NHC must also issue watches and warnings to areas that are threatened by tropical storms and hurricanes.
“Hurricane Hunter” aircraft are sent by the NHC to investigate the cyclones when their meteorologists need more data to classify and forecast the storms.
