The roughly circular area of comparatively light winds that is found at the center of a tropical cyclone. Sinking air suppresses cloud formation, creating a pocket of generally clear air. The eye is either completely or partially surrounded by the eyewall cloud.

An organized band or ring of cumulonimbus clouds that surround the eye. This ring of tall thunderstorms can produce heavy rains and the strongest winds. Changes in the eye and eye wall structure can affect the intensity of the storm. Eyewall and wall cloud are used synonymously.

curved bands of clouds and thunderstorms that moved away from the eye wall in a spiral fashion. These bands can move over the same area for extended period of time, causing flooding due to the heavy rains. They can also produce high winds and sometimes tornadoes. There is little to no rain or wind in the gaps that sometimes form between the bands.
