Heat Watch is when an excessive heat event (heat index of 105˚F) is likely in the next 24 to 72 hours.
Heat Warnings are issued when an excessive heat event is likely in the next 12 hours. Warnings are issued when an excessive heat event is occurring or imminent, and the conditions pose a threat to lives.
