What Do You Think?

Earth’s axial tilt is in the middle of a Milankovitch cycle and is currently decreasing. Remember that it takes over 40,000 years to complete a cycle! What do you think conditions on Earth will be like when the Earth’s tilt is at its smallest value (22.1°)?

A) Seasons will be more mild since as the Earth rotates around the sun, the smaller angle will create less variability in the amount of solar radiation each hemisphere receives.

B) Seasons will be stronger and show a greater difference between spring and summer, for example.

C) The tilt of the Earth will not change the seasons since they are caused by our distance from the Sun.
