Precession (Orientation of Earth’s Axis)

The axis of the Earth changes orientation between pointing at Polaris (North Star) and Vega. When it points at Vega, we refer to Vega as the North Star. This cycle occurs every 23,000 years. Significant climatic alterations happen because of precession! For example, the current seasons will reverse - The Northern Hemisphere will have winter when the Earth is further away from the sun instead of closer.
