Rain Gauge and Rain Rate (in.)
Oct 6 '16 - Oct 9 '16

Extreme rainfall can cause flooding problems, depending on the amount of rainfall that falls in a set amount of time. Rainfall rate is a measure of the intensity of rainfall. It is measured by calculating the amount of rain that falls on the earth surface per unit area per unit of time. Using data from selected WeatherSTEM stations, examine the rainfall and rain rate during Hurricane Matthew. Which station had the greatest rain rate? How far was this station from the center of Hurricane Matthew? What other conclusions did you come to after investigating the data?
