Cloud Fun Facts

Cloud Color

Did You Know?

Clouds appear white because as sunlight passes through the tiny water droplets that make up the cloud, all of the visible light colors are reflected. When the cloud gets thicker, less sunlight can pass through the cloud, and it appears darker.

Did You Know?

The noctilucent cloud is the highest in the atmosphere, found at about 200,000 feet. This beautiful and rare cloud is too faint to see in the daylight and can become visible at twilight when the sunlight can reveal them.

Did You Know?

Earth's atmosphere is a cloudy place. NASA estimates that clouds cover 67% of the Earth's surface at any given time. Most of the clouds are found over the mid-latitudes and the equator.
