In 1958, scientist Charles David Keeling began taking measurements of atmospheric carbon dioxide in Mauna Loa, Hawaii. The “Keeling Curve” is the continuous record of these measurements, which shows both the seasonal rhythm and the overall rise of carbon dioxide over the past 5 decades.
