Solar radiation is radiant energy emitted by the sun, particularly electromagnetic energy. Solar radiation data provide information on how much of the sun's energy strikes a surface at a location on earth during a particular time period. Scientist measure solar radiation in units of W/m^2, called Watts per meter squared.
Fun Fact: While Florida is referred to as “The Sunshine State,” more sunlight is recorded in portions of the Southwestern United States – making it the ideal place for solar panels and potential solar energy hubs.
