How to Avoid UV Exposure

There are many ways to help limit your exposure to UV rays and protect your skin:

  • Seek shade, especially between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, which are the peak burn hours.
  • Use a sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher. Make sure to apply sunscreen 20 minutes prior to going outside, and reapply sunscreen every two hours- and even more frequently if swimming or sweating.
  • Wear UV sun protective clothing, wide brimmed hats, and polarized sunglasses if you are going to be outside during the peak burn hours.
