Solar Radiation - Direct Measurements
The direct method of measuring solar radiation is done using a pyrheliometer. A pyrheliometer is an instrument for measurement of direct beam solar irradiance. Sunlight enters the instrument through a window and is directed onto a thermopile (a set of sensors that measure small amounts of radiant heat), which converts heat to an electrical signal that can be recorded.
