Special Military Weather Groups

• The 557th Weather Wing, started during WWI, supports both the Air Force and the Army.
• Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) supports both the Navy and Marine Corps. from sea to space.
• These groups have the responsibility of understanding weather from sea to space and collect many types of observations from high atmospheric weather and solar observations to climate data and analysis, to real time forecasting in the field.
