Tennis is played year round, though the professional circuits for both men and women will spend the Northern Hemisphere winter attending tournaments in the Southern Hemisphere (summer). Because of this, players are typically exposed to playing in some of the warmest conditions regardless of time of year. The tennis season revolves around the 4 major annual tournaments of the year. These tournaments are often referred as Grand Slams.
