Heat and Tennis Players

The human body naturally generates heat but the amount of heat produced increases when the body is active. Heart rates increase to pump blood from muscles to the skin in order to produce sweat. When sweat evaporates off the skin, it cools the body.

A tennis player can produce up to 3 liters (0.75 gallons) of sweat, which is more fluid than they are able to replenish during multiple hour-long matches.

This leads to an increased number of players being affected by heat related illnesses during tournaments.
