Tornadoes

Florida experiences more tornadoes per 10,000 square miles than any state in the U.S. This even exceeds the density of tornadoes in Oklahoma, which is located in the famous area called “Tornado Alley.” Fortunately, most of the tornadoes reported in Florida are much lower in strength than those on the Great Plains. Many that are reported are waterspouts that generally are both small and weak, although there have been some large and powerful exceptions.
