Ida transitioned into a post-tropical cyclone as it moved off to the north and east of where it made landfall, causing significant inland flooding due to heavy rains in parts of Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. It was the third tropical system to impact the Northeast with heavy rains, following Tropical Storm Fred and Hurricane Henri.
The National Hurricane Center estimated that between 18 and 23 billion dollars in damages in the Northeast due to the flooding and tornadoes caused by Ida.
