Hurricane Ida was a powerful Category 4 Hurricane that devastated portions of the Gulf Coast, including much of Louisiana. Hurricane Ida was the 9th named storm, 4th hurricane, and 1st major hurricane of the 2021 Hurricane Season. The storm caused nearly 75 billion dollars in damages and claimed the lives of at least 87 individuals in the United States. It is the second most damaging and intense hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana, behind Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
