2021 Hurricane Season: A Look Back

The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season officially ended on Nov. 30, producing 21 named storms, including seven hurricanes. Hurricanes Grace, Ida, Larry, and Sam, are the four major” (Category 3, 4, or 5) hurricanes; however, only Ida made landfall along the United States coast. The 2021 hurricane season marked the 7th year in a row that the first-named storm (Ana) formed before the official start of hurricane season. Three tropical cyclones were simultaneously active in the North Atlantic (Fred, Grace, and Henri), and eight storms hit the U.S coastline during the hurricane season.
