WeatherSTEM Fusion: Wind Direction

Our WeatherSTEM station and sky camera at the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Lab in Franklin County, FL captured a first-hand account of how the wind direction impacted the water levels before and during Hurricane Michael on October 10th.

Before landfall, the water slowly moves into the basin and begins to swamp the land around the area, but as Hurricane Michael approached the coast, the storm surge pushed ashore during Hurricane Michael's landfall. The video stops just before 2 PM EDT, around the same time the hurricane made an official landfall near Mexico Beach, FL.
