Impacts: Alabama

Even though the center of Hurricane Michael did not track into Alabama, the large wind field caused significant damage in the southeastern portion of the state; especially Houston county, and eastern parts of Geneva and Henry counties. The direct agricultural crop damage in the eight hardest hit Alabama counties from Hurricane Michael topped over $200 Million and included losses of:

  • Cotton: $110 Million
  • Livestock: $25 Million
  • Timber: $25 Million
  • Pine Straw: $12 Million
  • Peanuts: $ 12 Million

You can read this assessment report, released by Alabama Extension, that details the damage in each of the counties.
