Impacts: Georgia

Hurricane Michael went directly over southwestern Georgia, one of the biggest agricultural regions in the state, and home to several prominent crops. The storm wiped away years of work in the area, and it will take some growers almost a decade to recover from the devastation. Here are some of the estimated direct losses by commodity:

  • Cotton: $600+ million
  • Vegetables: $480 million
  • Pecans: $560 million
  • Poultry: $25+ million
  • Peanuts: $10-20 million
  • Timber: $763 million
