Hurricane Michael: Rainfall and Flooding

Rainfall from Michael has now topped 6 inches in a few locations in the Carolinas and Virginia, but due to Michael's rapid forward motion, the rainfall totals were significantly lower than what was measured during Hurricane Florence.

Many of the areas that escaped the record rainfall totals produced by Florence, were impacted but Michael. Homes and businesses were flooded in parts of central Virginia; water rescues were performed in the South Carolina Midlands and in western North Carolina; where the rainfall also triggered mudslides.

The saturated from grounds from Florence, combined with Michael's rainfall and strong winds, caused falling trees and power outages across the region.
