Hurricane Michael: Alabama and Georgia

After Hurricane Michael moved onshore near Mexico Beach, FL, the center of the storm continued on a northeasterly path across the Florida Panhandle and into Southwest Georgia. The storm weakened as it moved inland, but was still a major hurricane, a Category 3 with wind gusts of 115 mph, when it entered the Peach State; the first major hurricane to hit the state since 1898.

This portion of the lesson will explore the impacts from the wind and heavy rains that fell across parts of Southeastern Alabama and Georgia along the track of Hurricane Michael.
